GREYHOUNDS: IRISH VIEW: Searching for a star at Dundalk.

THEsearch for young talent is never ending, of course, and there will be massive interest in a valuable event coming up at Dundalk in the nearfuture.Unraced competitions are peculiar to the Irish scene and are hugely popular. They give the young dogs the ideal chance to compete against their own age group in their initial races and are regularly the starting line for the future stars.

But the Unraced Sprint is a pretty new feature and really coincided with the opening of Dundalk with its pretty unique circuit and a great galloping two-bend 410-yard distance.

Next Friday, the Droopys Scholes At Stud Champion Puppy Open Unraced Sprint - quite a tongue twisting name - will commence and it boasts a prize fund of EUR20,000. Reports suggest that some flying trials have been recorded by contenders for this competition and it's a fair prediction that a few new stars will be unveiled.

What price another Droopys champion?
