GREGGORY L. BALDWIN RETIRES FROM ROSS STORES NEWARK, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross Stores Inc.
(NASDAQ: ROST) announced today that Greggory L. Baldwin, executive vice president, Operations will retire from the company as of Feb. 1, 1992.
Baldwin began his retail career over 32 years ago with the F. W. Woolworth Co., and served in various management positions there before joining Ross "Dress For Less" in 1982 as both a founding stockholder and key executive in charge of all store operations. In commenting on Baldwin's retirement, Norman A. Ferber, president and chief executive officer, stated, "Gregg Baldwin has played an instrumental role in our company's rapid growth from our original six stores in 1982 to over 200 stores in 18 states today. We thank him for his past leadership and the invaluable contributions he made over the past ten years, especially the strong store operations and property development organization he developed. We offer Gregg our best wishes on his retirement." As previously announced last month, Melvin A. Wilmore has joined the company in the newly created position of executive vice president and chief operating officer. Wilmore's new responsibilities include Store Operations, Property Development, Human Resources and the Controller's group. Ross Stores Inc. operates a national chain of off-price retail stores offering first quality, in-season, branded apparel and apparel- related merchandise for the entire family.
