AN eco-themed tourist attraction boasting the world's first people-powered roller coaster has been crowned Wales's best amusement park.

UK TOP GreenWood Forest Park, in Y Felinheli, Gwynedd, was the only Welsh park to feature in a UK-wide TripAdvisor top 10, topped by Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Now it pulls in 135,000 a year.

Before setting up the park the couple's background was in plantlife, working on environmental projects in the Sudan and Arizona. Mrs Bristow, 55, said ecology is an idea that "runs through the park".

She said: "Most of the rides are people powered where they have to use their own energy to have a fun day out."

Travellers named Blackpool attractions among the best in Europe, with its Pleasure Beach voted the ninth best amusement park in Europe.

10 Beach home of Peppa Hampshire Farley, Tamworth, Paultons Park, home of Peppa Pig World in Hampshire, was 10th in the top European amusement park table, while Alton Towers was 12th.

Chertsey, Surrey Brighton Wisborough Adventureland, Park, Y Wales Essex Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Paultons Park were first and second in the best UK amusement park list. The world's top amusement park was Discovery Cove in Florida, while the leading water park was Siam Park in Tenerife.
