GREEN RIVER IS TOP CHOICE FOR FAMILY ADVENTURE VACATION

GREEN RIVER IS TOP CHOICE FOR FAMILY ADVENTURE VACATION
SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Utah's Green River Expedition, 90 miles of rolling rapids connected by calm stretches cut through magnificent canyons, is quickly getting the reputation as the ideal family adventure vacation. The Green runs north to south near the Utah-Colorado border and is part of the Colorado River System.
According to Western River Expeditions President Larry Lake, "The Green is perfect for adventurers from 7 to 70 years old. It's river running with hands-on experience. You get all the adventure and relaxation you want during the four or five days you're on the Green." There is also plenty of pampering by trained river guides...and wonderful campfire food.
From Sand Wash, 90 miles up river from Green River, Utah, guests are launched in 6-person inflatable rafts on trips scheduled from May 24 to Aug. 26. A well-trained, experienced boatman mans the oars. Guests can take a turn at the helm, or paddle their own inflatable kayak or raft along side.
Sixty white-water rapids of moderate difficulty give the Green River lots of excitement.
The Green River, first mapped by John Wesley Powell in 1869, cuts through towering, sculptured red-rock canyons as deep as the Grand Canyon. Rushing clear-water streams and pools, pine-covered mesas and Indian ruins offer plenty of places to explore and remember. Sixty-five miles down river, historic McPherson Ranch recalls the escapades of Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch.
The Green River is a travel bargain, with four-day expeditions offering half-price rates for children from 7 to 17 years old. Full rate for adults on the Green is $695. The rate includes air transportation from Grand Junction, Colo., to the launch point, memorable gourmet dutch-oven dinners around the campfire, and expert guides...everything on the river except camping gear which is available to rent at reasonable rates.
Over the last 35 years, Western River Expeditions, the nation's largest rafting vacation company, has guided guests through the most spectacular scenery in the world. A detailed, 32-page, full-color brochure and trip planner is free by calling toll-free, 800-453-7450.
