GREEN MACHINE NETWORK REPORTS RECORD GROWTH FOR 1991
CLEVELAND, March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Machine Network

Corporation, one of the leading regional ATM networks in the country, reported an exceptional year of growth in 1991. Now the seventh largest ATM network in the country, Green Machine provides its members with state-of-the-art electronic banking services and is pursuing new technologies to further enhance its capabilities.
The Green Machine network includes 1,490 ATMs and switches more than 8.5 million transactions per month. The network posted a 75 percent increase in its number of ATM and Point-of-Sale (POS) devices, and recorded a 39 percent increase in monthly switched transactions.
According to John R. Beran, chief executive officer of Green Machine Network Corporation, the network continues to rise in prominence in the Electronic Funds Transfer industry (EFT). "Green Machine has increased its core business and achieved substantial geographic expansion. We continue to maintain our commitment to high quality customer service, growth and new product and service development."
Green Machine has tripled its number of clients since 1988. On average, Green Machine added one new client institution per week during 1991. Green Machine also expanded to 12 states, providing banks, thrifts and credit unions with electronic banking services. Green Machine Network ATMs are found throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York and South Carolina.
 Targeting New Technologies
Green Machine is aggressively developing new products and services tailored to meet its members' emerging needs. According to industry predictions, ATMs will become increasingly prominent in the alternative delivery arena, dispensing an array of products and services from postage stamps to video cassettes to personalized data from an agency or organization.
"Consumers have grown to rely on ATMs to meet a majority of their financial services needs," explained Beran. "The convenience of being able to conduct banking transactions at any time, in an increasingly expanded number of locations, is now being adapted for other uses. In an information-rich society, we're leveraging technology to provide the same kind of convenience to many other aspects of consumers' lives. The opportunities are endless."
Other innovative products and services being explored by Green Machine revolve around expanding the use of its ATM technology to include the storage, retrieval and updating of records for a company, business or organization. Services to be launched in the near future include telephone bill payment, an electronic adjustment and report distribution system, a card activation management program, a university campus terminal network, a cardholder service charge system and broadly expanded terminal device driving capabilities.
Green Machine provides its members with electronic banking services including transaction switching, device driving and support, network gateways and cardholder authorization services. Green Machine is a member of the MONEY STATION(TM), Plus System(R) and CIRRUS(R) Networks. During 1991, it expanded gateway services to include the Network One and Magic Line regional networks in Michigan, VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
Green Machine also provides clients with marketing support services, sales training and customer service and support.
 Transaction on the Rise
Nearly 500 million transactions are performed electronically every month at ATMs and POS terminals throughout the country. Consumers and businesses continue to rely on increasingly sophisticated networks of ATMs and related equipment to provide them with readily accessible cash, access to banking transactions and electronic debit and credit services around the clock.
Green Machine is a wholly owned subsidiary of Society Corporation (NASDAQ: SOCI), a $15.4 billion financial services company.
With the merger of Society Corporation and Ameritrust Corporation (NASDAQ: AMTR), which was announced in September 1991 and is expected to be completed during first quarter 1992, Green Machine will expand to include 300 ATMs currently operated as the Ameritrust Asset Network. These ATMs will be converted to Green Machine ATMs, offering a complete range of electronic banking services to consumers.
