 GREAT LAKES GAS TRANSMISSION NAMES NEW PRESIDENT
 DETROIT, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Great Lakes Gas Transmission


Company (GLGT) today announced the appointment of Derek E. Henwood to the position of president and chief executive officer effective Oct. 1, 1992. Henwood is currently senior vice president of TransCanada PipeLines Limited (TransCanada), responsible for power generation, associated pipelines and projects.
 John K. Archambault, the current president and chief executive officer of GLGT, will rejoin TransCanada as the executive responsible for government relations in eastern Canada.
 Henwood joined TransCanada as an assistant engineer in 1966 after graduating with a degree in engineering from Queen's University. He completed his master's of business administration in 1968; was appointed vice president of engineering and operations in 1981; project director of Sable Gas Systems Limited in 1983; vice president of pipeline investments and projects in 1987; senior vice president in 1989; and chairman of the Iroquois Management Committee in 1991.
 Archambault began his career in private law practice, joined TransCanada as general counsel in 1973 and rose to become senior vice president prior to his appointment to GLGT in 1988.
 Great Lakes Gas Transmission Company is the Detroit-based operator of a 1,960-mile natural gas pipeline that transports western Canadian natural gas for delivery to customers in the United States and eastern Canada. It is co-owned by The Coastal Corporation (NYSE: CGP), a Houston-based energy holding company, and TransCanada PipeLines Limited of Calgary, Alberta.
