GREAT LAKES BANCORP SHAREHOLDER REQUESTS SPECIAL MEETING
GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter T. Kross,

the largest shareholder of Great Lakes Bancorp (NASDAQ-NMS: GLBC), Ann Arbor, Mich., today requested the Great Lakes board of directors to call a special meeting of shareholders.
Kross has requested that the special meeting be held prior to the May 20, 1992, rescheduled annual meeting, for the purpose of allowing the shareholders to vote on maintaining the size of the board at 15 members.
Subsequent to the 1991 annual meeting, Great Lakes reduced the number of board seats from 15 to 13, resulting in only four board seats up for election this year. Because there have been two board resignations over the past year, maintaining a 15-member board would allow the shareholders the opportunity to elect six directors in 1992.
"I have asked the board of directors to call the special meeting to maximize the shareholders' ability to choose the size and makeup of their board, as allowed by the bylaws," stated Kross. "My hope is that the board will cooperate and call the special meeting without delay."
