GRAPHIC INDUSTRIES SALES, EARNINGS UP FOR FOURTH QUARTER AND YEAR

 ATLANTA, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Graphic Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: GRPH), a leading full-service printing and graphic communications company, today reported higher sales and earnings for both the fourth quarter and the fiscal year.
 For the 12 months ended Jan. 31, sales were up 2 percent to $316,881,000 compared with $310,736,000 for the previous year. Net income increased to $3,960,000 or $.41 per share of common stock fully diluted compared with $66,000 or $.01 per share for fiscal 1992.
 Fourth quarter sales were up 9 percent to $82,384,000 compared with $75,497,000 for the fourth quarter last year. Net income was $1,453,000 or $.15 per share of common stock fully diluted vs. a loss of $796,000 or $.08 per share for the year-ago quarter.
 "Our operating companies turned in an improved performance in the face of tough economic conditions prevailing last year," said Mark C. Pope III, chairman and chief executive officer of Graphic. "We are pleased with the improved earnings, and assuming the gradual recovery in the general economy continues, we feel optimistic about the future."
