 GRAPHIC INDUSTRIES REPORTS RESULTS FOR SECOND QUARTER
 ATLANTA, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Graphic Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: GRPH), a leading full-service printing and graphic communications company, today reported results for the second quarter and first half of this fiscal year.
 For the three months ended July 31, sales were $74,484,000 compared with $76,053,000 last year. Net income was $555,000 or $.06 per share of common stock fully diluted compared with a loss of $301,000 or $.03 per share of common stock for the second quarter last year. In the 1991 quarter, earnings were adversely impacted by $800,000, representing the after-tax amount of the settlement of a lawsuit involving one of the company's subsidiaries.
 First half sales were $154,917,000 compared with $155,109,000 last year. Net income for the six months ended July 31 increased to $1,428,000 vs. $422,000 for the corresponding period last year.
 Earnings per share of common stock fully diluted were $.15 for the six months compared with $.04 per share for the first half last year.
 "Our growth in earnings for the second quarter and first half reflects the dedicated efforts of our people to achieve improved profits in the face of the continuing sluggish economy and strong pricing competition," said Mark C. Pope III, chairman and chief executive officer. "As the level of business activity increases, we should see further improvement in our results."
 Graphic operations include 17 commercial printing companies and a reprographics division with 14 locations serving major markets and customers throughout the United States.
 The Graphic operating companies include IPD Printing & Distributing, Inc., Williams Printing Company, Stein Printing Company, Atlanta Blue Print Co., Prizma Photographics, Executive Courier, Inc. and Northside Blueprint, all based in Atlanta; Edwards and Broughton Company, Raleigh, N.C.; Craftsman Printing Co., Charlotte, N.C.; A&E Reprographics, Jacksonville, Fla.; W.E. Andrews Co., Inc., Boston; W.E.
