GRANT TO HELP PHILADELPHIA COMPANY STUDY EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Acting state Commerce Secretary Andrew T. Greenberg today announced the approval of $5,000 in state funds to help Circuitry Inc. of Philadelphia study the possibility of establishing itself as an employee-owned operation.
Circuitry, a newly established firm, is a start-up electronics company that will design, layout, manufacture and assemble circuit boards for use in military, aerospace and commercial markets. The company expects to create 50 jobs within three years.
The grant will enable company organizers to analyze the financial viability of employee-ownership alternatives and assess the commitment and qualifications of potential employees through a pre-feasibility study. The results of the study will allow company officials to determine if employee-ownership is the best form of organization.
The total cost of the study is $10,000, with the owners paying the remaining $5,000.
The grant was awarded through the state's Employee Ownership Assistance Program, which assists new, expanding or troubled businesses interested in employee ownership arrangements.
