GRANDAD SNARED IN CIGS RAID.

A man dubbed Scotland's oldest bootlegger has been caught with thousands of pounds worth of fake fags.

Grandad David Graham had his home raided by police, trading standards and customs after a tip-off.

They discovered the 76-year-old had a haul of 32,000 Richmond and Mayfair cigarettes - with a street value of PS16,000 - stashed in the property in Shotts, Lanarkshire.

Graham told investigators he had bought the cigarettes for friends and neighbours.

He is the oldest person in Scotland found to have been involved in bootlegging.

Fake cigarettes have in the past contained rat poison, asbestos, arsenic and even human faeces.

An investigator said: "Graham may appear like a harmless OAP but the cigarettes people like him sell are not."

Graham was fined PS600 at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.
