 GRAND CASINOS NAMES TWO GAMING EXECUTIVES TO VICE PRESIDENT POSTS
 MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Grand Casinos, Inc. (NASDAQ: GRND), operator of the Grand Casino on the Mille Lacs Reservation in Minnesota, today announced the appointment of two experienced gaming executives as vice presidents.
 Lyle Berman, chief executive officer of the casino management company, noted that the corporation is seeking to establish a strong core of experienced gaming managers as a means of ensuring the success of the casinos the firm manages on behalf of its tribal partners. Grand Casinos is currently constructing its second casino, on Mille Lacs land near Hinckley, Minn., and has management contracts to establish two additional casinos in Louisiana.
 "We have added substantial depth to our headquarters management group with the selection of N.D. "Butch" Witcher as vice president of our gaming unit and Richard Schuetz as vice president of marketing," Berman said. "These individuals bring over 50 years of gaming experience to our firm, including extensive backgrounds in Las Vegas."
 With over 30 years of experience in slot machine operations, Witcher is widely regarded as one of the top slot executives in the gaming industry, Berman noted. As a senior executive at numerous casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, Witcher has been at the forefront of the slot machine industry's rapid development during the last decade. His expertise includes slot model selection, layout, merchandising, proactive marketing programs and the installation and use of computer- driven slot management systems. Witcher was the vice president of casino operations at the Dunes Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas; a vice president in charge of all slot operations at both the Tropicana Hotel & Casino and Resorts International Casino & Hotel; and a slot department manager at Bally's Park Place Casino, the Frontier Hotel & Casino and the Flamingo Hotel & Casino.
 Schuetz has served as executive vice president of the Frontier Hotel & Casino, vice president of casino operations for the Stardust Hotel & Casino and senior vice president of the Sands Hotel & Casino, all in Las Vegas. Previously, he has worked for Harrah's, the Ramada and Boomtown in Northern Nevada; the Golden Nugget, Inc., in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. He also has published numerous articles on gaming and gaming regulation and is a frequent lecturer on these topics. He received his undergraduate and masters training in economics at the University of Nevada, Reno, and his PhD training at the University of Utah. He has taught at the University of Nevada, Reno, Weber State College and the University of Utah.
