GRAMERCY ANNOUNCES BI-COASTAL BENEFIT PREMIERES TO CELEBRATE MAY 14 OPENING OF 'POSSE'

New York Premiere on May 10 to Benefit Black Filmmakers Foundation
 World Premiere in Los Angeles on May 12
 to Benefit United Negro College Fund
 BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Gramercy Pictures announced today plans for a bi-coastal celebration for the opening of Mario Van Peebles' western, "Posse," on Friday, May 14, featuring a New York premiere event on Monday, May 10, to be televised by MTV, benefiting the Black Filmmakers Foundation, and a world premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday, May 12, benefiting the United Negro College Fund, to be televised by Black Entertainment Television (BET).
 "Posse," an action-adventure saga of the Old West, is directed by Van Peebles and stars Stephen Baldwin, Blair Underwood, Tone Loc, Big Daddy Kane, Billy Zane, Van Peebles and Salli Richardson. The soundtrack on A&M Records features music by Tone Loc, Intelligent Hoodlum (a.k.a. Tragedy), Badd Boyz of the Industry, Vesta, David & David, Aaron Neville and the Neville Brothers.
 Kicking off the bi-coastal week of celebration for the opening of "Posse" will be a special invitation-only screening and party on Monday, May 10, in New York, being held to benefit the Black Filmmakers Foundation. The party, to be held in mid-town Manhattan, will feature various artists from the "Posse" soundtrack performing their songs and will be taped for a television music special to be telecast nationwide at a later date on MTV.
 On Wednesday, May 12 the national premiere screening of "Posse" will be held in Los Angeles, followed by a party at the Palace dance club in Hollywood. The event is being held to benefit the United Negro College Fund and also will be taped for a special program to be telecast nationwide at a later date on BET.
 "Posse," a Mario Van Peebles' film, is a Gramercy Pictures release of a PolyGram Filmed Entertainment presentation of a Working Title production.
