GRAHAM CORPORATION NAMES NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

BATAVIA, N.Y., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Graham Corporation (AMEX: GHM) today announced that J. Ronald Hansen has been named as its new chief financial officer.
Hansen, 45, comes to Graham from Al Tech Specialty Steel Company of Dunkirk, N.Y., where he became vice-president finance and chief financial officer in 1985. Hansen has been employed by Al Tech since 1979 and will begin his duties at Graham immediately.
In announcing the appointment of Hansen as vice president-finance and chief financial officer, Frederick D. Berkeley, chairman and chief executive officer, said "We are extremely pleased to have Ron Hansen with us. He was the outstanding candidate among those interviewed, and brings to Graham a solid finance background and ability. This includes substantial experience in budgeting, planning, restructuring, cost reduction and international and domestic finance, as well as acquisitions, divestitures and strong technical skills."
Berkeley continued, saying "In recent years the business of Graham has become increasingly complex in terms of competition throughout the world, product diversity and regulation as well as strategic planning, controlling costs, and financial management. At the same time Graham's business remains fundamental to global development. Graham's expanded and well-equipped plant in Batavia, N.Y., and its new and efficient facilities in England, as well as its excellent reputation throughout the world, place it in a strong position to take advantage of this development as it occurs. As Graham vigorously searches for ways to do this and to achieve significantly improved performance and shareholder value, the management and the board of directors of Graham Corporation feel that Ron Hansen can be a significant factor in accomplishing this."
Prior to his employment at Al Tech Specialty Steel Company in 1979, Hansen was a senior accountant at Deloitte & Touche from 1970 to 1972. He joined Alpern, Rosenthal & Company, a large regional CPA firm in Pittsburgh, in 1972 and became a partner in 1976.
Hansen is an honors graduate of Notre Dame and received his MBA with honors from Kent College.
Alvin L. Snyder, who is retiring as vice president-finance, will remain at Graham for a transition period to assist in the transfer of responsibilities to his successor and will remain available as a consultant to the company.
