PLANS TO BUILD NEW $4.2 MILLION RESEARCH FACILITY
COLUMBIA, Md., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- W. R. Grace & Co. (NYSE: GRA) today announced plans for the construction of a $4.2 million Process Development Building at its Washington Research Center (WRC) here. The facility, scheduled for completion in June 1993, will bridge the gap between scientific discoveries in the lab and the manufacture and sale of products developed in the lab by supporting the development, scale-up and commercialization of new products and processes.
Dr. Francois P. van Remoortere, president of the Research Center and a corporate vice president of Grace, said, "This expansion will expedite our process to move new and exciting products into the marketplace." The 34,000-square-foot facility, to be built on WRC's 147-acre site, will house Research Division and Commercial Development Division programs relating primarily to Grace's six core businesses which include construction products, water treatment, health care, container sealants, catalysts and silica-based products and packaging. The Washington Research Center, which began operations in the mid 50's, employs 520 people in 29 buildings.
Grace is the world's largest specialty chemicals company with a leadership position in health care.
