 GRACE ANNOUNCES NEW
 COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT DIVISION
BOCA RATON, Fla., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- W. R. Grace & Co. (NYSE: GRA) today announced the election of Martin B. Sherwin as a corporate vice president and president of Grace's newly formed Commercial Development Division.
The Division will focus on opportunities consistent with Grace's recently announced worldwide business strategy, with the goal of achieving profitable operations as rapidly as possible.
Initial programs will include environmentally safe pesticides such as Margosan-O which is based on a natural product from the neem tree, and an electrically heated catalytic converter that would aid efforts toward automotive pollution control.
Prior to his election, Sherwin was executive vice president of Grace's Washington Research Division, where his key responsibilities were engineering, process scale-up and commercial planning. He joined Grace in December 1980 as director of engineering research at the Research Division and was appointed the Division's vice president of engineering in 1982.
He also served as general manager of Grace Membrane Systems, a Grace start-up in gas separations for the natural gas industry, from 1986 to 1990.
Sherwin will report to Grace's executive vice president and chief technical officer, Dr. F. Peter Boer.
Sherwin, 53, graduated from City College of New York with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He received his master's degree in chemical engineering from Brooklyn Polytech and his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from City University of New York.
Sherwin and his wife, Bea, reside in Columbia, Md., with their son and two daughters and will relocate to Boca Raton.
