GRAB A PARENT AND RUN

NEW YORK, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Club Med is offering a special package in July called Family Dream Vacation -- with huge savings -- designed to attract the record number of nearly 100 million Americans who say they will vacation as a family in 1993.
The Club has been vigorously wooing this growing market since 1980-- creating villages specifically for families with special Mini Clubs featuring activities from circus training to water-skiing, sailing, and golf. Now -- for the month of July -- children from 2 though 11 years, who bring along at least one parent, stay on the house and fly at a reduced rate. The results: savings of from $500 to more than $1,000 over the standard rate, depending on the age of the children.
While the specific savings and availabilities depend on timing, numbers of family members, and departure city, the program provides the largest reduction ever offered by Club Med and includes savings for single-parent families.
The program is also designed to make family travel easier on the nervous system as well as on the pocketbook. Children are engaged and entertained from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., not just supervised. Parents may relax knowing their progeny are blissfully swinging from trapezes, juggling, performing in musicals, or getting their feet wet scuba diving. The Mini Clubs have their own dining areas -- medical personnel are on site.
Family Dream Vacations are available throughout July from New York, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco gateways.
Here is how the program works. Families reserve and pay for their vacations at least two weeks prior to departure. One week prior they learn which Club Med Family Village they'll be visiting. Families departing from New York and Miami go to a Caribbean village. The cost for an all-inclusive 7-day/7-night vacation for 2 adults and 1 child is $2,699. Those departing from Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles will head to a Mexican village and the cost for 2 adults and 1 child totals $2,899. For additional children, add $300 to the rate.
For those who can't take advantage to the July special, the Family Dream Vacation package will be reintroduced in the late fall. Meanwhile, other specials include KIDS FREE WEEKS, where children (primarily under the age of six) stay FREE, but without the same reduced airfare. Kids Free Weeks are available for varying time periods between now and mid-December.
