GPJC honors Bahraini participants.

Manama, Oct 31 (BNA) -- Chairman of Gold, Pearls and Jewellery Committee (GPJC) at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Mohammed Idhr-alhaq, yesterday confirmed that the Thai evaluators and experts who supervised the first phase of the professional program for jewelry design, recently held by the GPJC in collaboration with the (Tamkeen), have highly appreciated the Bahraini participants. This came on the sidelines of the award ceremony held at Baet Al-Tijr.

He said the Bahraini participants will be called upon to take part in a new phase after coordinating with the Gems and Jewelers Institute of Thailand's of the Ministry of Commerce in Thailand, in accordance with the protocol of cooperation which was signed during the successful visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Thailand past April.

The Protocol aims to find a bilateral cooperation between the two sides to develop the gold and jewelry goldsmithery career in Bahrain and to benefit from the Thai experiences in this field. The first step of the cooperation program began with training the Bahraini participants on a number of skills related to the jewelry industry, including jewelry and gold design and manufacture, jewelry coating techniques and rings design, he added.

He pointed out that there are a high number of job opportunities available for Bahrainis to be involved in this area, due to the unlimited domestic, regional and international demand on the gold and jewelry design.

He asserted the BCCI's keenness to push this sector by organizing this important program to serve the merchants and business owners and to provide them with all means of support to bolster and develop their competitive capacities.

He conclude the goldsmithery career has dramatically developed in recent years, there are software programs to assist those interested in designing gold and jewelry with very high precision and helps in accurately distributing weights of gold, diamonds and other precious stones in one piece.
