 GOV. CASEY APPOINTS COMMERCE DEPARTMENT
 DEPUTY SECRETARY FOR ADMINISTRATION
 HARRISBURG, Pa., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Gov. Robert P. Casey today announced the appointment of Brian P. Walsh of Harrisburg as Deputy Secretary of Administration in the Department of Commerce.
 "Brian brings to the Commerce Department substantial management experience and a commitment to quality and performance," Casey said. "At a time when government is being asked to do more with less, it is especially important that state agencies be managed effectively."
 Walsh will be responsible for:
 -- management of the department's budget and fiscal systems;
 -- management of the department's computer and information services;
 -- administrative and personnel matters.
 His duties also include responsibility for the Office of Travel Marketing.
 Before joining the department, Walsh served as a special assistant to the governor. He was responsible for the administrative management of the Governor's Office, including oversight of the fiscal and personnel division, information management, and constituent and administrative services.
 Walsh, 28, received a bachelor's degree in communications from Ithaca College. Before joining state government, he worked for the Scranton Chamber of Commerce and WVIA-TV, a public television station in northeastern Pennsylvania.
