GOV. CASEY ANNOUNCES PIDA LOAN FOR GERMAN COMPANY TO ESTABLISH MANUFACTURING OPERATION IN DELAWARE COUNTY

HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Gov. Robert P. Casey announced today the approval of $870,000 in state funding to help PILZ America, a German compact disc manufacturer, establish its first North American manufacturing operation in Concordville, Delaware County.
The low-interest loan was awarded through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) program.
PILZ's manufacturing operation, which will also include a warehouse unit, is expected to create 70 jobs over the next three years.
"Through the efforts of the Department of Commerce and the Governor's Response Team, we have helped to attract a new advanced technology operation to Delaware County," Casey said.
"In an increasingly global economy, we're using our nationally acclaimed business assistance programs to attract new investment and new jobs to Pennsylvania."
PILZ, which manufactures compact discs for such record companies as Warner, EMI and Polygram, will locate its plant on a four-acre site in the Concordville Industrial Park. It also is moving its California warehouse operation to the site.
The company will use the PIDA loan to acquire and renovate a 41,000- square-foot building. The total cost of the project is more than $2.1 million.
PIDA loans, awarded at low-interest rates, may be used by manufacturers and industrial firms to purchase land and buildings for construction or renovation. Applications are made by local industrial development groups on behalf of industrial borrowers.
