GOV. CASEY ANNOUNCES CUSTOMIZED JOB TRAINING GRANTS

 HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 25 ~PRNewswire~ -- Pennsylvania Gov. Robert P. Casey today announced Customized Job Training (CJT) grants totaling $874,777 to help prepare 1,277 Pennsylvanians for new jobs and to upgrade the skills of 459 additional workers.
 "Through the Customized Job Training program, our schools are teaming up with the business community to help workers qualify for the new jobs," Casey said.
 The 13 training programs were approved by the CJT Task Force, representing the Pennsylvania Economic Development Partnership and the state Departments of Education and Commerce.
 The CJT program provides grants to schools that have developed training programs for employers locating or expanding in Pennsylvania. Training may take place at the school or in the workplace.
 The state gives priority to new companies, firms relocating from another state and companies in distressed areas and areas of high unemployment. Priority also is given to companies in designated enterprise zones.
 The following grants were approved:
 -- Allegheny and Westmoreland counties -- $22,854 to Micro-Teaching Factory to train six workers for new jobs and another 18 workers for upgraded jobs with M. D. Machine Co. Inc., Trafford.
 -- Blair and Bedford counties -- $65,686 to Altoona Area Vocational- Technical School to train 30 workers for new jobs with Creative Pultrusions Inc., Alum Bank.
 -- Blair and Bedford counties -- $99,894 to Altoona Area Vocational- Technical School to train 75 workers for new jobs with Seton Company, Saxton.
 -- Butler County -- $48,949 to Butler County Community College to train 40 workers for new jobs with Barnsteel Abrasives, Butler.
 -- Columbia County -- $11,941 to Columbia-Montour Area Vocational- Technical School to train 18 workers for new jobs and another 15 workers for upgraded jobs with G & B Specialties Inc., Berwick; and $63,567 to train 157 workers for retention jobs with Wise Foods-Borden Inc., Berwick.
 -- Huntingdon County -- $44,030 to Huntingdon County Area Vocational-Technical School to train 10 workers for new jobs and another 24 workers for upgraded jobs with Alexandria Wood Products Inc. in Alexandria.
 -- Mercer County -- $9,248 to Mercer County Area Vocational- Technical School to train six workers for new jobs with Regenex Corp., Mercer; and $21,184 to train six workers for new jobs with Customfold, Jackson Center.
 -- Northampton County -- $61,903 to Career Institute of Technology to train 26 workers for new jobs with Paragon USA Inc., Easton.
 -- Venango and Crawford counties -- $79,382 to Venango County Area Vocational-Technical School to train 245 workers for retention jobs with Cytemp Inc., Titusville.
 -- Washington and Allegheny counties -- $185,598 to California University of Pennsylvania to train 68 workers for new jobs with G.R.D. Steel Corp., Monongahela.
 -- York County -- $90,541 to York County Area Vocational-Technical School to train 992 workers for new jobs with Dyncorp Postal Operations Division, York.
