GOOD TASTES.

COCKTAILS 2005

Want to make some of the hippest cocktails from the coolest restaurants and bars throughout the country? Pick up a copy of ``Food & Wine Cocktails 2005'' (American Express Publishing; $14.95). The magazine's first ever cocktail book is filled with more than 200 drink recipes, along with a nightlife guide to the newest bars, restaurants and lounges in more than 35 cities.

Among those in Los Angeles are Bar Marmont, Falcon, Grace, The Hungry Cat, Lucques, Koi Restaurant and Luna Park, along with drinks from some of them like Pimlico, Roof Garden, Strawberry-Almond Margarita and You're a Pepper, Too. The ``Cocktail Clinic'' chapter includes details on glassware, garnishes, tools and a conversion chart (ounces to tablespoons and cups).

MEGA M&M'S

M&M's Brand Chocolate Candies has introduced Mega M&M's in both milk chocolate and peanut varieties. The milk chocolate candies are estimated to be 65 percent larger and the peanut chocolate candies 45 percent larger than their original M&M's counterparts - so you can get more chocolate and peanut in every bite. Designed to appeal to adults, they come in six colors - maroon, teal, blue-gray, beige, gold and brown.

Tasters weren't impressed - the colors were dull-looking (no shine like the originals), and the brown and beige were very unappealing. We're not convinced we need larger M&M's - and especially in these unattractive colors. We'll stick with the originals - and perhaps other adults will too. They are certainly more fun, colorful and appealing. It'll be interesting to see if this line extension is a hit.

Available in 12.6-ounce ($2.79) and 19.6-ounce ($4.15) sizes, look for them in mass merchandising stores, drugstores and supermarkets.
