Happy hours differ somewhat from bar to bar.

But at a recently opened sushi bar and Japanese cafe called Tomo Sushi in Burbank, happy hours mean a nonalcoholic special sushi menu where all items are priced at $2.75.

Tomo's happy hours are between 5 and 7:30 p.m. daily. The $2.75 list contains a dozen hand roll items, seven cut rolls and a dozen regular sushi snacks that include such favorites as albacore, sea eel (anago), fresh water eel (unagi) and baby tuna.

Tomo also has a full Japanese menu of popular dinner entrees served with miso soup, salad and steamed rice. Sukiyaki ($10.50) can be had here along with several teriyaki dishes and tempura plates. Prices on these run from $6.50 to $10.50.

There are also eight combination dinner specials ranging from a vegetable tempura and chicken teriyaki pairing ($9.95) to a sashimi and beef teriyaki duo ($12.95).

Tomo's kitchen also offers half a dozen soups ($1.50 to $7.50), five rice bowls ($1.50 to $8.50) and numerous appetizers, salads and sushi combinations.
