GOLF: Morgan homes in on target.

BECKY MORGAN is on the brink of a major goal going into today's Long Drugs Challenge in Auburn, California.

A high finish for the Welsh golfer, who turned 30 earlier this month, could qualify her for the Samsung World Championship in California next month.

Morgan, currently 28th on the money list with nearly pounds 200, 000, needs to finish in the top two to secure one of the places in the elite 20-strong field which will be finalised by Sunday evening.

The three Britons already certain to qualify are British Open Champion Karen Stupples and Scot Catriona Matthew, while Laura Davies has also received an invitation as the leading player on the women's European Tour.

Davies opened her year by winning the Women's Australian Open, but her results in America have been slightly disappointing and it is now three years and three months since the former world number one last claimed a title on the LPGA Tour.
