GOLF: Becky's staying focused; SPORTS ROUND-UP.

WELSH star Becky Brewerton was trying not to look too far ahead after sharing the halfway lead with a second round 69 at the Wales Women's Championship of Europe at Machynys Peninsula near Llanelli.

The 23-year-old from Abergele is still waiting her first win in her fourth season as a professional. She said: "This would be the best place to win my first event, but if you start to think about winning at this stage then it would be the kiss of death."

Brewerton was the outright leader after moving to 11 under with four birdies in the first 16 holes. But she dropped her first shot of the championship at the short 17th - and then watched playing partner Linda Wessberg match her ten under 134 total with an eagle at the 18th.

The pair were one shot ahead of a group of three which included England's Laura Davies and European Solheim Cup Captain, Helen Alfred sson.
