 NEW YORK, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Goldpfeil, a leading European manufacturer of luxury leather goods, will open a 2,035 square-foot boutique on Tuesday, May 12, at one of New York's premier retail sites, 711 Fifth Ave., the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 55th Street. The New York boutique represents a major step for the 136 year-old company in its goal to expand its presence in North America.
 "Our goal is to open Goldpfeil shops on the world's most exclusive avenues of fashion and in-store boutiques in the most elegant department stores, where discerning consumers expect to find the world's finest leather goods," explained Ingo Kaiser, president of Goldpfeil.
 While searching for the ideal site for the company's flagship store and U.S. headquarters, Goldpfeil laid the ground-work for its presence in the U.S. Since 1984, Goldpfeil has opened nine boutiques in North America, including stores in Beverly Hills (on Rodeo, of course!), Bal Harbor, Honolulu and Dallas. And Goldpfeil has opened in-store boutiques at some of the nation's most exclusive retail stores including Barneys New York and Bullocks' Southcoast Plaza.
 Whether shopping on fashionable Fifth Avenue, browsing on the Boulevards des Capucines or sashaying along Singapore's sensational Orchard Road, Goldpfeil boutiques are consistent in design worldwide to ensure that its customers feel at home wherever they purchase their leather goods. With a regard the New York boutique, shoppers enter via a glass door framed in cobalt blue. Above the entryway is a brass reproduction of the treasured Goldpfeil logo, the golden arrow (in German, "Gold Pfeil"). Inside, sleek birch displays rise from unpolished marble flooring set-off by accents of brass and cobalt blue lacquer.
 The elegant yet understated ambiance intends to serve as a showplace for the cases of Goldpfeil, which are displayed according to collection. "It is the product that is unique and exciting and it was Goldpfeil's intent to create a setting where the personality and appeal of the merchandise is the major focus," said Kaiser.
 Goldpfeil's 2,035 square-foot boutique features extensive frontage on both Fifth Avenue and 55th Street. Goldpfeil also occupies 1,300 square-feet on the basement level, which the company is using for office, storage and showroom space.
 Goldpfeil offers 11 permanent collections of luxury leather cases and accessories. Goldpfeil also crafts two specialty collections and twice a year introduces limited edition "Fashion" collections. Although the styles of Goldpfeil range from very traditional to ultra contemporary, the company's leather items are similar in their adherence to exquisite styling and impeccable craftsmanship.
 Based in Offenbach, the leather center of Germany, Goldpfeil was founded in 1856 by a pursemaker named Ludwig Krumm. Since that time, Goldpfeil leather goods have been revered by connoisseurs of luxury worldwide. Today Goldpfeil employs more than 800 people, has more than 45 exclusive boutiques worldwide and is available on five continents.
