GOLD WIRE "FORMULATOR" SUPPORTS CISCO/NETSCREEN VPN DEVICES.

Gold Wire Technology, Waltham, Mass., has announced that its Formulator(R) product family of network configuration control appliances now supports industry-leading Virtual Private Network (VPN) and firewall solutions from Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) and NetScreen Technologies (NASDAQ: NSCN) for the enterprise, government and service provider markets.

This means that for the first time network operators and security directors will be able to use a single solution to provide network configuration control for the majority of devices in their network. Gold Wire Technology is the first company to provide multi-vendor, single sign-on network access and configuration control for routers, switches and firewalls in a single appliance.

"Gold Wire Technology is one of the first companies to address a growing conundrum among network operators: 'How do you increase security without adversely effecting availability?'" said Matthew Kovar, director, The Yankee Group. "Expanding networks and growing security threats are forcing network operations and security departments to converge their missions and abandon stovepipe solutions. Any configuration change is a possible security threat and every change will affect other network elements. The evolution of enterprise security management requires that there is a symbiotic relationship between configuration management and security. Gold Wire Technology's Formulator is one of the first products to recognize this challenge and provide a solution."

The Formulator product family provides support for NetScreen products including NetScreen Systems and Appliances along with the Cisco PIX Firewall Series product family.

Gold Wire Technology's newest product - Formulator 200 - is released and shipping, but will not be formally announced until the fall. The Formulator product family will be unveiled later this year. Formulator is the only solution currently available that can meet the router, switch and security device needs of multi-vendor networks with network configuration control support for Cisco Systems, Riverstone Networks, Nortel Networks, NetScreen Technologies and others.

Market analysis and research data from The Yankee Group and IDC predict that the market for network management solutions will be $2.7 - $3.2 billion by 2005.
