GOLD MINE; Mary's first single set to be a hit.
SINGING sensation Mary Byrne gave her fans here a sneak preview of her debut single yesterday.
The X Factor finalist chose RTE's Derek Mooney show to premiere the track I Just Call You Mine.
The 51-year-old and her fellow contestants are in Dublin performing as part of the X Factor Live tour.
They take to the stage at Dublin's O2 Arena tomorrow night and Mary said she is glad to be on home soil.
She added: "The Irish are so appreciative, so happy and so welcoming that they'll lift the roof of the O2 when we walk out."
Mary felt it was important for an Irish audience to hear her new single first, and it was certainly a big moment for the former Tesco worker and her legions of fans here.
The singer said she felt it was only right to preview the track on the Derek Mooney Show as he had supported her throughout X Factor.
Mary added: "I'm so emotional, I really am. It's just such a lovely feeling to hear me on your show in particular."
I Just Call You Mine is a track previously recorded by country artist Martina Mc Bride. And Mary said the moment she heard the song, she knew it was right for her.
She added: "I connected with the song straight away because the words are very poignant . "Someone could be singing it to me or I could be singing it to someone else, it doesn't matter, it's just such a beautiful song."
But fans will have to wait until it is released next month to hear more of the song as Mary won't be singing it at the O2 in Dublin this week.
She said: "I won't be performing this song on the tour, it will only be songs from the show that I'll be doing.
"There is one song on the new album that I'll be doing on the tour though, and that's Man's World."
Mary has also covered the track Galileo by singer Declan O'Rourke on Mine And Yours.
She said: "There's also a few Shirley Bassey songs on there, Mine And Yours, and an Irish song written by Declan O'Rourke from Ballyfermot."
Mary will be doing her first live performance of the song on The Late Late Show this Friday.
MARY Byrne has a sure-fire hit on her hands with this emotional ballad.
I Just Call You Mine showcases the natural power and versatility of Mary's voice. It proves that Mary Byrne is a force to be reckoned with way beyond the realms of the X Factor.
It's an emotional track which Mary could almost be singing about herself She sings: "You're a standing ovation.
"After years of waiting for a chance to finally shine.
"Everyone calls you amazing. I just call you mine."
And that's how Ireland feels about Mary - who could have a No1 hit.
