GO2 SYSTEMS/VOLTDELTA TO PROVIDE LOCATION-BASED INFO.
Go2, a leader in delivering location-based information over web-enabled wireless phones, will add VoltDelta's extensive directory and content-based information to further enhance Go2's database of real world businesses and current, real-time information and services available to Go2 users. VoltDelta's DirectoryExpress National White Pages listings and its InfoExpress databases will also be available through Go2's web sites for use with Go2's patented real-world search technology in order to automatically direct wireless users to locations, products and services in their immediate area and to deliver other location-relevant information over portable devices.
"We are pleased to partner with Go2, a leader in delivering wireless services," said Bob Toothaker, vice president of business development at VoltDelta. "Go2's enhanced database of retail listings will significantly enhance VoltDelta's 130 million listings used throughout the United States to support billions of traditional voice directory assistance calls annually."
As a result of the Go2/VoltDelta agreement, users of wireless web enabled devices, including web enabled wireless phones such as Sprint PCS phones, will be able to obtain up-to-the-minute information, including locations, hours and turn-by-turn-directions related to businesses, products and services in proximity to them. Users will also be able to further refine their real-world searches to obtain more complex information such as corporate directories, restaurant reviews, sports scores and weather and traffic reports.
"VoltDelta is a significant content provider in the telecommunications industry and we are delighted to both access their data and allow them to use our enhanced, location-based technology and information available to the thousands of Directory Assistance operators who use VoltDelta's products and services," said Go2 founder and president Lee Hancock. "This agreement further enhances Go2's position as a leader in providing the most complete and accurate location-based database of real-world locations accessible over web-enabled cellular phones and portable devices."
Consumers with web-enabled wireless devices are already able to access more than 500 topic- and brand-specific Go2 Web Sites that contain information about 11 million real-world destinations. VoltDelta's data will be available for access with Go2's patented technology (designed specifically for devices with limited keypads, storage, bandwidth and display space) to further enhance Go2's wireless directory and content.
