GMIS AGREES WITH PMAIC TO GO 'IN HOUSE'
 WITH NEW WORKERS COMPENSATION SOFTWARE
MALVERN, Pa., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- GMIS Inc. (NASDAQ: GMIS) one of the leading marketers of cost containment solutions for the insurance industry, today announced a joint agreement with the Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association Insurance Company (PMAIC) to go "in-house" with its newly introduced Workers Compensation software, ClaimCheck P&C, designed to expedite medical bill review.
"We anticipate that our software will be seamlessly integrated into PMAIC's managed care system, streamlining Worker's Compensation claim handling and payment," said Thomas Owens, president and chief executive officer of GMIS. "The marketplace demands quick and affordable claims processing according to generally accepted clinical criteria, and GMIS provides that leadership."
Owens added, "PMAIC is the second of the top 20 insurers in the country to integrate ClaimCheck P&C. If PMAIC's experience is anything like the other insurers, they should realize considerable savings by integrating ClaimCheck into their medical bill review process."
In recent years, medical costs have shown dramatic increases and now represent 40 percent or more of the total Worker's Compensation costs. PMAIC, one of the leaders in the implementation of cost containment strategies, will be using GMIS' provider claim auditing software to consistently and effectively control medical payouts on Worker's Compensation claims.
Many organizations utilize outside sources for the review of medical bills. The emerging trend is toward keeping the review function in- house to control administrative costs. Because ClaimCheck P&C is easily integrated into existing systems, PMAIC should rapidly begin realizing the benefits of their enhanced medical bill review system, adapted for specific state reimbursement rules.
"We compared two other systems with GMIS' ClaimCheck P&C, in terms of sample, bills and data. We found that ClaimCheck P&C gave us the most credible results," observed George Scherbak, vice president, Claims at PMAIC.
He concluded, "We not only liked ClaimCheck P&C's credibility, but the fact that it can be adapted to state reimbursement guidelines. Our staying in-house with ClaimCheck P&C means that we can assure our customers that medical expenditures are timely and appropriate for the services rendered. In the end, our customers will benefit from the savings generated from our enhanced Managed Care program."
GMIS' current customer list of more than 150 leading insurers includes 16 of the top 20 commercial insurers, 8 of the 12 largest HMO's and 35 of the 73 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans across the country. ClaimCheck P&C is the newest addition to the GMIS product line, which includes: Autocoder(R), ClaimCheck(R), Provider Insight(TM) and The Medical Appropriateness System (MAPS(TM)).
