GM RESPONDS TO REPORTED TRUCK LEGAL ACTION

 DETROIT, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- General Motors (NYSE: GM) issued the following statement this morning in response to published reports in Indianapolis that it has initiated legal action against self-described safety analysts and NBC News. The statement is attributed to William J. O'Neill, Director of Public Affairs, North American Operations:
 "Beginning in mid-January, 1993, we took legal action to preserve evidence in an on-going investigation, and we plan to detail major results of that evidence gathering in the very near future."
