GM REACTS TO TARGET

 DETROIT, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- GM statement attributable to Gerald A. Knechtel, vice president of NAO personnel, regarding the UAW selecting Ford as the strike target.
 "We hope that Ford and the UAW will be able to reach an agreement that addresses the common competitive challenges facing the domestic auto industry. Obviously when our time comes, we will seek an agreement that addresses concerns and issues that are unique to General Motors."
