GM MIDSIZE CAR DIVISION APPOINTS TWO

 WARREN, Mich., April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Two executive appointments, effective May 1, 1993, were announced today by Jack Evans, manufacturing manager, GM Midsize Car Division.
 Robert J. Moran, plant manager of the division's Ste-Therese assembly plant in Quebec, Canada, is appointed plant manager of the division's assembly plant in Doraville, Ga., home of the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
 Richard G. Conrad, assistant plant manager of the Ste-Therese assembly plant, which produces the newly redesigned Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird, succeeds Moran as plant manager.
 "Moran's learnings from the Camaro/Firebird launch at Ste-Therese will be helpful in addressing the challenges facing the Doraville assembly plant," said Evans, "while Conrad's experience at CAMI and Ste-Therese allows the smooth continuation of production processes there."
 Moran joined General Motors in 1968 as an hourly employee at Chevrolet Motor Division in Warren. The next year he became a production clerk, and then he held various positions with Chevrolet until 1971, when he was appointed production foreman with GM Assembly Division (GMAD) in Warren. In 1972, he was named work standards and methods engineer and in 1973 senior methods engineer.
 Moran transferred to the GMAD Lordstown, Ohio, plant in 1975 as work standards engineer and later that year was named industrial engineer and manufacturing planner.
 In 1977, he was appointed engineer-in-charge, assembly research at GMAD in Flint, Mich. He returned to Lordstown in 1979 as superintendent of trucks and was named assistant chief inspector there the following year.
 In April 1980, Moran was appointed assistant superintendent, body metal at the GMAD Arlington, Texas, plant, and in 1983 was named general superintendent at GMAD's Willow Run assembly plant in Ypsilanti, Mich.
 Moran transferred to the Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac Group's Wentzville plant in St. Louis as production manager in 1986, and he was appointed plant manager of GM of Canada's Ste-Therese plant in 1988.
 Moran was born July 20, 1946, and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1977.
 Conrad begin his GM career as a General Motors Institute (GMI) student at the GMAD plant in Arlington in 1966. In 1972, he was transferred to the GMAD plant in Kansas City, Mo., as senior layout engineer. He held various other positions there including chief engineer-powerhouse; general supervisor-paint; general supervisor- chassis; planning coordinator-paint and general supervisor-paint, until 1980, when he was appointed senior staff assistant for GMAD in Warren.
 In 1981, he was transferred to GMAD in Van Nuys, Calif., and was named production superintendent-paint. He held various positions there, including production superintendent and general superintendent.
 In 1991, Conrad was appointed vice president of production for the CAMI Automotive Inc. plant in Ingersoll, Ontario -- GM's joint venture with GM of Canada and Suzuki Motor Co., Ltd. He was named assistant plant manager at the Ste-Therese plant in March 1993.
 Conrad was born Sept. 30, 1947, and received a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from GMI in 1971.
