GM GOODWRENCH SERVICE PLUS COMES TO CHICAGO

 DETROIT, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- General Motors Goodwrench Service Plus, aimed at improving customer service, is making its debut at GM dealerships in the Chicago area.
 According to Leonard J. Decker, general director of sales, service and marketing for GM Service Parts Operations (SPO), many Chicago-area dealership representatives attended meetings on Aug. 10 and 11 to learn details of the program. "They can sign up now and begin putting the process in place," said Decker.
 GM Goodwrench Service Plus was successfully piloted in Columbus, Ohio, and is scheduled to be refined and developed further in the Chicago evaluation.
 "This process offers the consumer competitive prices, the convenience of courtesy transportation and extended service hours, the quality of genuine GM parts installed by trained automotive technicians and a lifetime warranty to the original retail purchaser," explained Decker.
 "We developed GM Goodwrench Service Plus to enhance the GM ownership experience," he continued. "The program can help the GM dealer prove to the customer that returning to the dealership for service is an excellent choice. Ensuring that GM vehicle owners have a satisfactory dealer service experience increases the chance those customers will purchase another GM vehicle," added Decker.
 The GM Goodwrench Service Plus Program provides comprehensive training for dealership service writers, advisers and technicians. Eleven vehicle systems, comprised of about 150 labor operations, are part of the program. The systems included are air conditioning, coolant, transmission, brakes, fuel delivery, shocks and struts, emission control, ignition, front-wheel drive, exhaust and lube-oil- filter. GM Goodwrench Service Plus is an extension of two other consumer-oriented automotive service programs coordinated by GM Parts -- Mr. Goodwrench Quick Lube Plus and the GM Goodwrench Exhaust Program.
 SPO, headquartered in Flint, Mich., with sales offices based in Detroit, markets automotive service and replacement parts and accessories worldwide through its GM Parts, AC-Delco and International sales activities.
