GM FOUNDATION SALUTES LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR FLOOD RELIEF DONATIONS

WASHINGTON, Mo., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Being a good neighbor in times of need is simply a way of doing business at Modern Automotive, according to its sales manager, Jim Feltmann Jr. That's why the local Chevrolet-Olds-Cadillac dealership was recently saluted by the General Motors Foundation for its donation of $3,069 in support of GM's efforts to help flood victims.
"Because General Motors has agreed to match, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, contributions received from its employees, retirees and dealers, our total gift to the American Red Cross is not $3,069, but actually double that amount, or $6,138," said Feltmann at a recent ceremony where a check was presented to the Washington chapter of the Red Cross, which is assisting efforts to help local flood victims.
In addition to the matching contribution program, on July 16, GM kicked off its effort with a $100,000 grant to the national American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Nationwide, through Sept. 30, 1993, GM will match up to an additional $250,000 in support from eligible contributors. In total, the amount raised could reach $600,000.
"This community has always been very supportive of our dealership. So when we heard about the matching program, GM gave us the perfect opportunity to show our appreciation to the residents of this area and to our community," added Feltmann.
