GM Announces Support for EU Hydrogen Programs.

Reuters recently reported that General Motors (GM) has voiced its support for a 10-year public and private European Union (EU) pilot project to promote hydrogen use in vehicles.

According to Reuters, the EU programs would build hydrogen filling stations and fuel cell power plants in European cities as well as finance a fleet of several hundred hydrogen-powered vehicles by 2010.

"This is a great opportunity not only to make clear the automotive industry's commitment to sustainable mobility but also to start building up hydrogen infrastructure," said GM Europe president Carl-Peter Forster.
