GM AND AIRSENSORS' SUBSIDIARY SIGN AGREEMENT

SEATTLE, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- IMPCO Technologies Inc., and General Motors (NYSE: GM) jointly announced today that they have signed a two-year agreement to develop and produce gaseous fuel engine management systems for GM vehicles. General Motors will offer a gaseous fuel engine management system on selected 1994 cars and trucks, according to Richard M. Donnelly, General Motors vice president and group executive - GM Powertrain, and Dennis R. Minano, General Motors vice president of Environmental and Energy staff.
GM selected IMPCO Technologies as a result of a worldwide evaluation of the alternate fuel industry. IMPCO was awarded the contract on the basis of technology product performance, quality, reliability and price.
Donnelly said under terms of the agreement, IMPCO will engineer, test, validate and install electronically controlled gaseous fuel systems on vehicles in strict compliance with GM specifications. For the 1994 model year, GM will offer a common natural gas fuel system on a variety of passenger cars and trucks. Vehicles with the engine management system will be fully warranted by General Motors and serviced by GM dealerships.
"Through this agreement, GM will market cars and trucks that help fleets meet the stringent terms of the National Energy Policy Act of 1992," Donnelly said. "We also recognize that in some areas of the country, the natural gas distribution system is still maturing, so we are providing vehicles that run both on natural gas and gasoline."
During the 1993 model year, GM was the first OEM to offer alternate- fueled vehicles capable of operating on either natural gas or gasoline. With IMPCO, the program is expanded for the 1994 model year to include a variety of car and truck platforms. The IMPCO electronic fuel system will optimize vehicle performance, emissions and fuel economy while the vehicle is operating on natural gas. IMPCO manufactures the electronic fuel system in the United States.
The two-year agreement covers development, production and installation of gaseous fuel engine management and fuel storage systems for GM vehicles. The companies can exercise an option in the contact to extend it an additional two years.
"The agreement is significant to GM's environmental and national security efforts," said Minano. "GM is contributing to the nation's goals of reduced generation of greenhouse gases and reduced dependence on energy imports."
IMPCO Technologies Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of AirSensors Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: ARSN, ARSNW), a publicly held corporation trading on the NASDAQ National Market System. IMPCO specializes in alternate-fuel products sold worldwide for low emissions applications in motor vehicles, forklifts, other material handling equipment and small portable to large stationary engines, ranging from one to 5,000 horsepower.
