GM'S OKLAHOMA CITY ASSEMBLY PLANT RECEIVES TOP QUALITY RANKING
 FROM J.D. POWER AND ASSOCIATES
OKLAHOMA CITY, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Power and Associates announced today that the General Motors Oklahoma City assembly plant produces vehicles with the fewest reported problems in North America. According to an Initial Quality Study, which reviews owners' first 90 days' experience with new vehicles, Oklahoma City-produced Oldsmobile Cutlass Cieras and Buick Centurys ranked among the top 10 high-quality cars sold in the U.S.
"We're proud to be ranked first out of the 46 car assembly plants in North America included in the study," said Barry Herr, Oklahoma City plant manager. "We set our sights on that target and accomplished our goal by focusing all our efforts on customer satisfaction and applying discipline to the process."
J.D. Power and Associates' Initial Quality Survey ranked the plant fourth in 1991 and third in 1990.
"The engineers, assemblers and suppliers associated with our products will continue to focus their efforts on quality improvement as part of a never-ending effort," Herr said.
Oklahoma City is part of GM's Midsize Automotive Division. Arv Mueller, GM vice president and general manager of the Midsize Automotive Division, said, "We are totally dedicated to continuously improving our products. We want to keep these cars at the world-class quality standards necessary to excite our customers."
Both vehicles built at Oklahoma City showed positive quality improvements in owner surveys over the previous year. In the top 10 ranking, the Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and Buick Century reported 70 and 85 problems per 100 cars, respectively.
J.D. Power and Associates will officially recognize Oklahoma City at its annual automotive conference June 30 in Laguna Niguel, Calif.
