GLOBAL TELEWORKS CORP. FORMS STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH UNIGLOBE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INC. TO MARKET GLOBAL 800 CALLING CARD

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Teleworks Corp. (Vancouver: GLT) President Neville Abreo announced that Global has formed a strategic alliance with Uniglobe Telecommunications Inc. (UTI) of Toronto to market the Global 800 Calling Card to its 40,000 subscriber base.
Uniglobe will sell the Global 800 Calling Card through its 5,000-agent distribution network to its current membership base. The Global 800 Calling Card will allow subscribers from anywhere in North America to access discount long distance and enhanced service offerings such as voice and FAX messaging. Global and UTI expect to obtain approximately 3,000 new subscribers by December 1993 with revenues of more than $220,000 per month as a result of the partnership. By July 1994, Global anticipates more than 18,000 new customers and the revenues from these sales in 12 months to be in excess of $8 million.
"This strategic alliance gives Global access to a rapidly growing customer base of over 40,000. This caller traffic will be directed through our joint facilites with U.S. Long Distance in Seattle and is consistent with our aggressive growth plans for the North American market," states Abreo. "As a result of this partnership, Global plans to install a local service in Toronto within six months to offer Global services into the Toronto market."
According to Abreo, "UTI is enthusiastic about selling our Global 800 Calling Card as a value added service to its current subscribers. More importantly though, is the fact that the Global 800 Calling Card gives UTI distributors an innovative service offering that they can sell on a North American basis for the first time."
Uniglobe Telecommunications Inc. provides discounted long distance voice and data telecommunications services to residential and business customers in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton.
