GLOBAL SMALL CAP FUND INC. LISTS ON THE AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE

 NEW YORK, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange today began trading the initial public offering of common shares of the Global Small Cap Fund Inc.
 The fund, trading under ticker symbol "GSG," opened at 15 on 1,000 shares.
 J. Streicher & Co. has been selected as the fund's specialist firm.
 The Global Small Cap Fund is a newly organized, diversified, closed- end management investment company. The fund's investment objective is long-term capital appreciation. The fund will invest primarily in equity securities of small capitalization companies worldwide.
 The fund's initial public offering consists of 3,350,000 shares and an over-allotment of 502,500 shares. The fund's investment adviser and administrator is Mitchell Hutchins Asset Management Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of PaineWebber Incorporated.
