GLOBAL MARINE MOVING NORTH SEA RIG TO UNITED STATES WATERS

 HOUSTON, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Marine Inc. (NYSE: GLM) will mobilize its Glomar Baltic I jackup drilling rig from the North Sea to the United States Gulf of Mexico under a one-well contract expected to last a minimum of a hundred days. The rig, which is larger than any jackup currently operating in the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to arrive within 60 days.
 C. Russell Luigs, Global Marine's chairman and chief executive officer, said, "One of our 300-foot jackups in scheduled to leave the Gulf of Mexico for a term contract offshore Trinidad. Arrival of the Baltic will maintain our Gulf of Mexico fleet at nine cantilever jackups, all of which we expect to be fully employed for the remainder of the year."
 Capable of drilling to 30,000 feet in water depths of 375 feet, the Glomar Baltic I is a Marathon-Letourneau Super-300 jackup built in Brownsville, Texas in 1984.
 Houston-based Global Marine is one of the industry's largest international offshore drilling contractors, offers turnkey drilling services, and has interests in oil and gas production.
