GLO CPAs, LLP Fair Value & Derivatives Accounting Conference.

HOUSTON -- GLO CPAs, LLP, a large Houston-based 25 year old leading certified public accounting firm is providing more than financial services for its clients and constituents by hosting conferences and networking sessions at The Houston Club. On Tuesday, March 6th, 2007, GLO will host a conference focused on Fair Value and Derivatives Accounting.

Speaking at the event are Katherine Schipper, Ph.D. (past FASB member) who will discuss Fair Value Accounting and Concepts, and Angela L.J. Hwang, Ph.D. (Co-Editor of Journal of Derivatives Accounting) who will speak on Accounting for Derivatives. After the presentation, GLO will hold a discussion panel presented by Agnes Cheng, Ph.D.

The conference will cover many aspects regarding Fair Value Accounting including definitions, key attributes, measures and measurement standard - SFAS 157. Also covered in the Derivatives Accounting section of the conference: implementation, key aspects and amendments of FASB 133, SFAS 138, SFAS 133, FAS 133 and FAS 149.

Katherine Schipper, Ph.D., is a Thomas Keller Professor of Business Administration & Professor of Law at Duke University. Dr. Schipper is a former member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and an expert in financial reporting standard setting and how the capital markets use accounting information.

Angela L.J. Hwang, Ph.D., M.S.A., B.S. is Associate Professor of Accounting at Eastern Michigan University. Dr. Hwang co-edited the Journal of Derivatives Accounting and has been published in the Journal of Accounting Education, The CPA Journal, Journal of Accountancy, Advances in Taxation and Advances in Management Accounting.

Agnes Cheng, Ph.D. is currently Director of Research & Technical Activities at GLO CPAs, LLP. Dr. Cheng is also a Professor of Accounting at the Bauer College of Business at University of Houston, and has helped the University of Houston to arrange and develop training and education programs for Asian students and executives.
