GLICKENHAUS & CO. NAMES MARINO VICE PRESIDENT-PUBLIC FINANCE

NEW YORK, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Glickenhaus & Co., a New York investment management firm, today announced the appointment of John Marino as vice president of public finance. Marino is currently chairman of the New York State Democratic Committee.
"We are excited and honored at the prospect of John Marino joining our organization," said Francis B. McKenna, managing director of the public finance department at Glickenhaus. "In the past nine months Glickenhaus has become a significant factor in municipal finance underwriting. John's background and knowledge provides us with a perfect meshing of needs and talent."
Marino served for five years as assistant commissioner and New York City regional director of the New York State Department of Transportation under Governors Hugh Carey and Mario Cuomo. In this position, he was responsible for construction, maintenance and rebuilding of the region's highways, roads, bridges and tunnels.
"During this period I developed a broad understanding of municipal infrastructure financing and appreciate the value of a company who can structure and market municipal bond offerings in a fashion that ultimately benefits the general public," Marino said. "Glickenhaus is such a company and I am thrilled to be a part of its future."
Glickenhaus has been an active participant in the municipal bond market for decades with more than $1.7 billion of assets under management. In July of 1992, the company launched a public finance department. That unit has already acted as a senior or co-managing underwriter in more than $2.5 billion worth of tax-exempt financings.
"The Clinton administration's commitment to redeveloping urban infrastructure is yet another powerful engine we feel will drive the municipal bond industry to greater heights," said McKenna.
"And," McKenna continued, "because John Marino has vast experience and sensitivity to the financing needs of municipal and regional authorities, he is a crucial addition to the already impressive repertoire of the Glickenhaus public finance department."
Marino, a New York City native, earned a B.A. degree from Fordham University, a M.S. degree from Iona College and a Master's degree in Public Administration from New York University. He is married to Donna DeBernardo, an attorney. They have a daughter Sara, who was born in March 1992.
Prior to his election as chairman of the New York State Democratic Committee, he served as executive director of that organization and before that was deputy secretary of the New York State Department of State.
