GIVE HIM A BREAK.

Byline: AARON O'NEILL

BERNARD BROGAN admits that All-Ireland winner Stephen Cluxton deserves a break from the inter-county scene and says he has reservations about whether the goalkeeper will return.

The influential stopper has not turned out for Dublin this summer with boss Dessie Farrell indicating that Cluxton has not retired but says he cannot confirm if the goalkeeper will return to the matchday panel.

Brogan - who is a former teammate of Cluxton's - says that he believes a break from the Dublin camp may be the perfect tonic.

"The thing about Stephen Cluxton is that he is his own man," Brogan told Ireland AM. "He's a very strong-willed individual and he doesn't go with the circus, as they say.

"I'm worried, I have to say. He's a big part of Dublin GAA. I lived with him for years and he's a close friend of mine.

"He might just be in flux at the moment. He's played 21 years, he's a teacher and he's very professional and cares a lot about his studies and students.

"If anyone in the game deserves a bit of time to reflect on where they're going [it's Stephen]."
