GIVE DAD THE GIFT OF ONE-STEP VCR PROGRAMMING
WITH VCR PLUS+(TM) FOR FATHER'S DAY
LOS ANGELES, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- This Father's Day, give busy Dads a gift that will simplify their lives -- the revolutionary VCR Plus+(TM) from Gemstar Development Corp. With VCR Plus+, setting the video cassette recorder to record his favorite sporting events and movies, is as easy and fast as dialing a telephone. At the suggested retail price of $59.95, VCR Plus+ is the affordable way to make Dad's life a little easier.
VCR Plus+ is the only product available which offers one-step VCR recording. The device will also control the cable box, so if Dad is away from home, he can tape shows on different cable channels. No installation is required for the product -- to record a desired TV or cable TV program, Dad simply punches in the show's VCR PlusCode(TM) number, printed next to individual television program listings found in 350 newspapers nationwide and TV Guide -- VCR Plus+ does the rest. When the program is about to start, VCR Plus+ turns on the VCR then sets the VCR or cable box to the correct channel and automatically records the program for the appropriate length of time.
VCR Plus+ offers Dad three-show recording options: once, weekly or daily, and can store up to 14 program choices at a time, which is double or triple the capacity of most VCRs. In addition, VCR Plus+ calculates how much tape is needed in the next 24 hours.
Since the launch of VCR Plus+ in November 1990, Gemstar has experienced widespread consumer demand for the product. VCR Plus+ is currently available in 22,000 retail chains, department stores and mass merchandisers such as Circuit City, Kmart, Montgomery Ward, Sears Brand Central, Silo, Radio Shack, Target and Wal-Mart. With VCR Plus+, 70 million U.S. VCR owners can accurately program their VCRs in just one easy step.
Gemstar Development Corp., a privately held California-based company, was formed to develop and market technological products which simplify life for the consumer. The company is headquartered at 135 N. Los Robles Ave., suite 870, Pasadena, Calif.
