GIRL, 15, IS BLINDED BY 4ft AIRGUN THUG; Boy, 13, held after attack in street.
A TEENAGE girl may lose her sight after being shot in the eye by a 4ft thug wielding a ball-bearing gun.
The 15-year-old girl, from Dundee, has been advised by doctors that she may never regain full sight.
Police have detained a 13-year-old boy in connection with the attack, which happened on Wednesday afternoon in the city's Baluniefield Road.
The teenager was walking with a pal when they were approached by a boy, described as 4ft tall and wearing a hooded top.
He repeatedly fired the BB gun at them, hitting them with pellets several times.
One of the pellets struck the girl directly in the eye, causing immediate blurred vision.
At Ninewells Hospital, doctors found blood vessels had been damaged - and warned the girl she may never regain full sight.
A police spokeswoman said: "Being faced with any firearm is a very frightening experience and this incident has shown that even a BB gun is capable of causing significant injury.
"What may be viewed as a 'toy' by some people can cause considerable fear and alarm in a public place.
"Where we get a repor of any kind of firearm incident, we respond with a full police firearms team.
"This person could have found himself confronted by armed officers."
