GILBERT M. CASSAGNE, FOODSERVICE DIVISION SALES VICE PRESIDENT,
PROMOTED TO NEW POST OF CORPORATE VICE PRESIDENT-GM/FOODSERVICE
DALLAS, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Gilbert M. Cassagne, 10-year veteran of the soft drink industry's second largest foodservice operation, has been promoted from division vice president-sales to the newly-created position of corporate vice president and general manager of foodservice for Dr Pepper/Seven-Up Companies, Inc.
Cassagne, 35, will have responsibility for all bottler sales, marketing and national accounts functions of the division. He will continue to report to Dr Pepper Company president and chief operating officer True H. Knowles.
Dr Pepper/Seven-Up Foodservice represents more than 20 percent, or $100 million of the company's consolidated annual sales volume. In 1991, the division posted its ninth consecutive year of record sales volume and profit increase. It has grown from one brand, Dr Pepper, to a full line of premium non-cola soft drinks that include Diet Dr Pepper, 7UP, Diet 7UP, Cherry 7UP, Diet Cherry 7UP, Sunkist, Canada Dry and Tahitian Treat brands.
Brands of the division are served in some 100,000 accounts, or approximately 14 percent of the nation's fountain/foodservice outlets. Significant customers of Dr Pepper/Seven-Up Foodservice include McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, 7-Eleven, Hardee's and Wendy's.
Cassagne is a New York native and business management graduate of Boston University (1978). He held several sales management positions with Procter & Gamble Co. from 1978 to 1982 and joined Dr Pepper Company's foodservice division as western region sales manager. In 1983, Cassagne was named region vice president and promoted in 1986 to division vice president-sales.
Reporting to Cassagne will be Rick Wach, foodservice vice president- marketing and Bill Perley, foodservice vice president-national accounts. Like Cassagne, both are 10-year veteran managers of the division.
