GIGGS BROTHER JAILED FOR NIGHTCLUB BOTTLE ATTACK.
THE younger brother of Manchester United star Ryan Giggs was jailed yesterday for bottling a man outside a nightclub.
Rhodri Giggs, 24, struck Colin Slayman over the head after a row about football.
His friend Christopher Doyle was seen beating another man unconscious.
The pair, who had waited outside the club for Mr Slayman and Andrew Cartwright, were caught on closed circuit television.
Mr Cartwright needed 10 stitches to his head after the attack in June last year. Mr Slayman suffered a cut to his head and bruised ribs.
Giggs, who lives with his mother Lynne in Worsley, Manchester, admitted assault.
Jailing him for nine months, Judge Anthony Ensor said: "Irrespective of your family background you accepted you struck a man over the head with a bottle. It is fortunate there were no serious repercussions."
Giggs will start his sentence in Manchester's tough Strangeways jail. A family friend said last night: "Rhodri likes to think he's a hard nut.
"He's been in a few tangles with the law before but nothing as bad as this. He'll be in fear of people targeting him because of who is brother is."
Doyle, 24, also from Worsley, admitted wounding and was jailed for 15 months. A third man was never traced.
