 BATH, Pa., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Giant Group Ltd. (NYSE: GPO) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Keystone Cement Co., was charged by the Attorney General of the State of Pennsylvania with one criminal count of altering computer records and one count of falsifying records relating to the burning of hazardous wastes in late 1991 and early 1992.
 The maximum penalty to Keystone Cement Co. for both counts is a fine of $25,000. There is no charge that Keystone Cement Co. actually violated any environmental laws or that there was any harm to the environment or to anyone's health.
 Keystone Cement denies all charges.
 Since Keystone Cement discovered and reported the alleged violations, it has fully cooperated with the Attorney General's investigation and voluntarily disclosed to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources all internal findings. Keystone Cement has made certain management changes and installed more sophisticated monitoring equipment to assure 100 percent compliance.
