LIVERPOOL URBAN BEACH: Looking for something to do with the family throughout the summer holidays? Neil Ponts Amusements present the Calderstones Urban Beach event, open until September 3. The Urban Beach is surrounded by decking, deck chairs and sand, which are free to use. There's also children's rides, beach-themed bouncy castles, and crazy golf! The beach hut offers buckets of chips, foot-long hot dogs, burgers, and even traditional candy floss. Open daily from 10.30am.

FREE!RSPB: Come along to the Museum of Liverpool and meet the RSPB in the atrium to find out more about Liverpool's feathered friends! See if you can find all the birds in our displays while you are there - including the Museum of Liverpool's 'life size' replica Liver bird. Drop in, no booking required, today (August 16) from 11am - 3pm.

FREE!TEDDY BEARS' PICNIC: Sudley House are hosting a Teddy Bears' Picnic on Saturday, August 22, from 1-4pm. Bring your favourite teddy bear, pack a rug and picnic, and join us for a fun day of storytelling, teddy bear adventure hunts and craft activities. Drop in, no booking required.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING: The Pantaloons are hosting an outdoor theatre performance of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing at Speke Hall this Wednesday, August 19. The boys are back from war and it's time for celebration; until villainous Don John decides to spoil the fun... Will Claudio and Hero fall foul of his plots? Will Beatrice and Benedick stop bickering and fall in love? Booking is essential on 0151 728 5850. 7pm start.

DOBBIES WILDLIFE TRAIL: This summer, your little ones can take part in the Dobbies trail and find the wildlife hiding around Dobbies in order to receive a packet of wildflower seeds, for a small donation to the charity at the end of the trail. Also available for a PS1 donation is a Wild Garden Activity Booklet which is packed full of creative ideas to keep them busy throughout the year. Visit Dobbies Liverpool and ask at the information desk for your trail sheet - good luck!

WIRRAL 1940's RE-ENACTMENT: The Northern Forties Re-enactment Group has stepped forward to help the Hooton Park Trust organise a 1940s re-enactment and period vehicle weekend event to raise money to help with the refurbishment of the remaining aircraft hangars. This new event will feature displays of military and period vehicles including two replica Spitfires. There will also be a children's fun fair. August 22-23, visit for details.

FREE!PARTY IN THE PARK: Victoria Park in Tranmere will hope to see many different kinds of fun activities for the children on Sunday, August 23, including such things as a mini petting zoo, donkey rides, many different kinds of bouncy castles, face painters, and a mini fun fair there too. All proceeds will be donated to Amy and Friends and the Cricket club. Entry is free, the event runs from 11am - 5pm.

OPEN DAY: Upton Victory Hall will be holding an Open Day on Sunday, August 23. The Open Day will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and include the rededication by the Mayor of Wirral of the plaque for SAMS canteen sited in Upton during WWII and which was used by servicemen. The Open Day will include exhibitions of games played by the UVH clubs, including bowls, croquet and tennis, with an opportunity to have a go. There will be themed music, various stalls and refreshments. From 11am until 4pm.

SEFTON SOUTHPORT FLOWER SHOW: Located in Victoria Park and within easy walking distance of the town centre, Southport Flower Show takes place from August 20 - 23. The event will feature stunning show gardens, the finest flower and vegetable displays, specialist foods and books, celebrity guests and much more. Find out more at CUPCAKE DECORATING: A great taster session for young people aged 10-19 where you will be able to learn lots of new skills or build on existing ones in cupcake decorating! No experience is required and booking is essential so please contact us to book your place. It is PS2 per person and will run from 1-3pm on August 17 at Woodvale and Ainsdale Community Centre, PR8 3RS. Contact 01704 573084 if you need more information. JAMIE CARRAGHER ACADEMY: For just PS2, you can get involved with the Jamie Carragher Football Academy sessions available this summer! If you fancy developing some new skills or building on existing ones then this is a great opportunity for you! KNOWSLEY SAFARI: This summer, visitors to Knowsley Safari Park will be able to save 20% when they book online! With a safari space covering 550 acres, visitors will enjoy a wild, family adventure, going face-to-face with over 700 animals including rhino, zebra, lions, tigers and cheeky baboons - don't worry, you can always take the car-friendly route! For more information visit: NATIONAL WILDFLOWER CENTRE: The National Wildflower Centre have plenty going on over the Summer holidays for adults and children alike! On Thursday, August 20, you can join the Great Outdoors team and Merseyside Biobank to get closer with the Centre's waterbeasts! Running from 12pm - 3pm. Find out more about all the activities available at XPLORER ORIENTEERING: Come along to Stadt Moers Park, Whiston and have a go at map reading. It's fun for all the family. HALTON MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT FAIR: On Sunday, August 23 from 11am until 4pm at the Masonic Hall in Widnes (on Kingsway), come along to the 7th Mind, Body and Spirit Fair. Entrance is just PS1 which goes directly to the great disability charity Scope. They have cakes and refreshments on offer, as well as tarot readings, holistic therapies, aura photography, health and well-being advice, market area selling spiritual crafts, gifts, soaps, organic skincare, candles, crystals, jewellery and so much more.

Disabled access at the back, kids can come in free. There's a big car park at the back or Kingsway leisure centre next door.

LIGHT FANTASTIC SHOW: Throughout the summer, Catalyst's Alchemy theatre will host this special show to celebrate the International Year of Light. Workshops will run daily at 12pm and 3pm. Tickets cost PS1 per person in addition to the normal admission charge, but are limited and sold in reception on the day, on a first come, first serve basis. Visit STAINED GLASS SKILLS COURSE: Book online to attend a Traditional Skills Course in Stained Glass at Norton Priory on August 22 and 23, 10am - 3pm. Learn all the techniques necessary to design and make your own piece of stained glass to take home. No experience required - all tools and materials provided. One day course. PS60 per person. Booking essential, call 01928 569 895 or book online www. ST HELENS LAUGH FACTORY: Visit Citadel Arts this summer and catch the Professional Comedy Club in St Helens. Laugh Factory brings you the funniest comics from the circuit. The Laughter Factory Comedy Club is hosted by everyone's favourite local comedian, Neil P Shawcross. Neil can be seen regularly performing across the North West.

With his dry, witty and often sarcastic humour he is sure to have the room laughing. Find dates and book tickets at: BROOKFEST: On August 22, Brookfest music festival is coming to Blackbrook Rugby Club. 10 live bands playing one huge outdoor stage from 12pm to 10pm. Welcome to the 1960s SET against the backdrop of the early 1960s period of the Cold War, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. centres on U.N.C.L.E. agents Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill, Man of Steel) and Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer, The Lone Ranger). The two put aside their differences to team up on a mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organisation from causing a worldwide catastrophe.
